AGS Field Trip Program 2018
Trip to River Dee at Dinnet - Deeside Limestone Formation
Trip led by Dr Alan Crane, Thursday 10th May
As announced at the AGM our first field trip this year will be a trip to Dinnet to look at the Deeside Limestone Formation.
We plan to cross the bridge and follow the south bank upstream. Walking is reasonably easy. Outcrops start immediately at the bridge and there is a wonderful collection of river-washed boulders a little over a kilometre upstream.
Meeting place and time: Dinnet Bridge, 6pm. There is ample parking at the side of the road at the northern approach to the bridge across the river Dee.
For those wishing to have a meal after the trip, the plan is to have a meal at the Boat Inn in Aboyne at about 8.30-9pm.
If you plan to attend the trip and/or the meal, please email: AGSTripContactEmail
Safety will be of paramount importance during the field trips. Time and effort will be spent ensuring AGS trips are safe and that members act and behave with safety in mind.
To reduce congestion at the venues we plan to visit, to enhance your satisfaction and to help reduce our carbon footprint people are encouraged to car share where possible.
